The Soul
The moment I first learned about The Soul - I was intrigued. It's something that can never truly be explained; for the soul is unique to each person and holds different semblence for every one of us.
In this article, I'll be explaining what I believe the soul to be. You may find my belief to be similar to yours, but that just makes us like minded. I'll start, like most times, with a dictionary's definition of 'The Soul'.
The Dictionary's definition of what the soul is:
The animating and vital principle in humans, credited with the faculties of thought, action, and emotion and often conceived as an immaterial entity.
The spiritual nature of humans, regarded as immortal, separable from the body at death, and susceptible to happiness or misery in a future state.
The disembodied spirit of a dead human.
The central or integral part; the vital core.
A person's emotional or moral nature.
A strong, deeply felt emotion conveyed by a speaker, a performer, or an artist.
What I believe
For centuries (and probably even before that), we have debated 'The Soul'; what it is, where it came from and what is it's purpose.
Depending on your beliefs, it could be a number of things.
Personally, I believe the soul is something we've had before, what we learn the soul takes with and applies it to our beginning. A constant cycle, the soul's journey and within the soul is the essence that connects us to all the planes in existence.
The soul is energy, energy which can neither be created or destroyed; but passed along, forever changing. This energy empowers us, fuels our thoughts and emotions and is our conscience. The soul is us, our personality and our individuality.
Our body is our physical self, that exists only in the physical plane. We exist on many different levels. Think of the soul as a key, a key that enables us access to every plane.
Divine, or Logic Plane
Monadic Plane
Spiritual or Atmic Plane
Intuttional or Buddhic Plane
Mental or Manasic Plane
Emotional or Astral Plane
Physical Plane
It's hard to explain what a soul is when it's not tangible. But I'll try and give you my interpretation of it. The soul is when we cry, it's every time we laugh and feel good. It's the depression and the hatred we feel.
It's when we know we are right, and also when we are wrong. It's the deciding factor in decisions we have to make, the driving force of our emotions, our feelings and conscience.
We cannot define the soul, the soul defines itself. It's the alpha and omega - the beginning and the end and all that is in between. It exists because it always existed and it will continue to learn and gather knowledge on every plane possible.
When we are born, we are born with instinct. We don't learn how to eat and survive, we just do. Our evolution from child to adult is rapid, as is our knowledge and understanding of things. When we first learnt to cry, who taught us?
Who taught us for the first time to be angry and sad? No one taught us these feelings and emotions, yet we display them. The soul retains knowledge and emotion, perhaps this is where we learn?
How do we first demonstrate our emotions if it is something that is not already in us? The soul is within us and within the soul is everything we have ever learned, ever dreamed, loved and hated. It's everything we are, on every level possible. It is everything we take with us, so the soul can start it's cycle again.
